Competitions There are a whole range of different competitions to choose from. Eisteddfods o Classical o Dance – Vocal Sections Talent Quests o Your School Most schools will hold a talent quest of some kind each year o NSW Club Circuit The various Leagues, RSL and Bowlers Clubs throughout NSW hold talent quests each year, most with heats, semi-finals and finals. Most of these are organised through agents but you get to work with some great musicians and there can be some wonderful prizes. They’re mainly open to those 18 years or older – some clubs have talent quests for juniors but this changes from year to year. o Shopping Centres and Agricultural Shows Karaoke A lot of different options here – mostly in pubs – they tend to advertise in local papers. Also, check online of course. Exams There is a range of different exams in Australia for singers including: Australian Music Examinations Board – Grade Exams o Singing for Leisure o Classical o Music Theatre o Rock High School Exams Each state school system holds practical exams as part of the music curriculum. Auditions There are many different audition opportunities in a wide range of vocal performance styles including: o Music Theatre o Music Programs o University Degree Programs o Opera o Opera Young Artist Programs
